Conferences, Events & Continuing Education
Use events and continuing education to learn and ask better questions without treating a conference title as a proven result. Check access, costs, and current details before committing.
Choose a learning purpose
Decide what you want to learn: diagnosis, compression fitting, research methods, nutrition evidence, daily-living support, or preparing for surgery. A focused purpose can make one session more valuable than attending everything.
Consider energy, transport, time zones, seating, captions, recordings, and the ability to pause or leave. Your capacity belongs in the choice of format.
Check official listings
Use the Lipedema Foundation conference/events page and the Fat Disorders Resource Society's own site for current information. Dates, registration, recording access, and speaker programs can change.
The FDRS site currently lists a 2027 conference; do not rely on an old search result or third-party calendar for booking. Confirm the actual event details directly before paying or arranging travel.
Keep announcements separate from evidence
An abstract, poster, preliminary talk, and full peer-reviewed paper provide different levels of information. A session title about GLP-1 drugs, lymphatic treatment, or a device does not demonstrate benefit or safety.
The tracker includes conference-only research watch items. Those remain watch items unless methods, results, harms, population, and disclosures can be checked.
Check the education and sales boundary
Identify the organizer, sponsor, speaker qualifications, and whether product or clinic promotion is part of the program. Continuing-education claims should be verified with the relevant professional accrediting body.
A certificate of attendance does not independently establish clinical competence, authorize diagnosis, or prove that a technique works for Lipedema.
Bring learning back to your pathway
Keep three notes: what you learned, what evidence was offered, and what you need to ask. There is no obligation to adopt every recommendation from an event.
Save related guides and bring the notes to your health coach and nutritionist. Clinical changes should be reviewed with your medical team rather than started because a presentation sounded persuasive.
